Earth Day 2026

A picture of the earth with visible trees extending from the top

Our Dream Team spends a lot of time in the vibrant neighborhoods of CBUS and RVA. We find inspiration in the way light hits the Reconstruction era cobblestones of the Shockoe Slip, or the way the Scioto and James Rivers move through our cities' landscapes. While creativity is arguably the most essential tool for what we do, it is more importantly a profound way of seeing the world around us. This Earth Day, we find ourselves reflecting on the deep connection between the work we create and the planet that provides our canvas.

Creativity is a natural extension of the environment. Every color palette we choose is borrowed from the sky above, the verdant land below, and everything in between. Every structure we design finds its roots in the patterns of the physical world. Within our modest offices sit thinkers who understand that our imaginations are fueled by the health of the earth. When we fight to protect our surroundings, we become guardians of the very source of our ideas.

This relationship is a partnership that requires our constant attention and care. The work we put into design is nothing short of a way to honor the resources we have, while dreaming of a future where sustainability and beauty exist in harmony. The projects we take on and the stories we tell are all part of a larger conversation of how we inhabit this space together. We recognize that our responsibility as creators extends beyond the screen or the page.

Every choice we make matters when we consider the long-term impact of our industry. We strive to find new ways to reduce our footprint and support the communities that keep us grounded. It is a journey of continuous learning and small, intentional shifts in how we operate. We are committed to this path because as we all know, there is no planet B. This reality gives our work a sense of purpose and urgency.

Today is a beautiful opportunity to step outside, breathe in the fresh air of the Midwest or the Mid-Atlantic, and remember why we do what we do. (Sometimes, the answer really is to go outside and touch grass!) We are grateful for the environment that sustains us and the creative energy it inspires within our team. Let us all look for ways to nurture the world that gives us so much room to dream.
